Writing a poem to your body will transform you, here is how you start...

When you think of body transformation, you probably don’t think of sitting down to write, so hear me out!

Our thoughts are insanely powerful, our thoughts actually determine what happens inside our bodies (https://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-9690/scientific-proof-that-negative-beliefs-harm-your-health.html). So when your mind is full of negative thoughts about your body, your body will react negatively. My suggestion for this weeks practice is to write a poem or essay about your body. This is a practice that will force you to intentionally focus on what is good about your body, what you love about your body, what makes your body special and strong. I recommend that once your poem is finished you put it somewhere you can read it every day, that way when you find yourself thinking negatively about your body you can call upon your poem to replace some of that shadow with light.

So where do you start?? If you have never written a poem or essay before I would recommend finding a line from a poem or essay you love and take it from there. A poem on body that I LOVE is one by Hillary Mc Bride…

I also love some of the poetry written by Rupi Kaur, and any of her poems on body could be a great jumping off point for a poem of your own.

You can write a poem, three lines long or you could chose to write an essay three pages long. This is your practice so you can make it your own. Maybe you do it just this once and read it over and over or maybe you try to write something every month/week/day to honor your body.

With this practice you can begin to transform not only your body but your spirit and your soul as well. As you let light and truth into the places that have been shrouded in shadow and lies you will begin to see that not only can you love your body, you will see that your body is worth loving and that Truth changes everything. This piece of healing can elevate your experience of life. You will no longer tolerate being treated as less than, your confidence will attract people to you who love you for who you are, your relationship to your creator will deepen along with your faith and the strength of your spirit. This is not just writing a poem, this is a step in healing and wholeness.

Writing a poem to your body will transform you, and it will be beautiful.

In love and light,
