Frequently asked questions.
do you take insurance?
No. In choosing to have a cash (non-insurance) practice, I can provide a guaranteed confidential experience.
When taking insurance, I am required to give you a diagnosis, find what the insurance company deems is an appropriate treatment for the amount of time they require, and then report it all to them.
I prefer that therapy be TRULY confidential and not report or provide a “prescription” when it may not be necessary for you. This way, we protect your vulnerability, and any diagnoses or prescriptions we deem necessary will not create problems for you in getting insurance in the future.
I can take payment from HSA and FSA cards.
However, if you like, I WILL create a superbill for you. You may then, if you desire, submit it to receive credit toward your deductible. I also work with a program called Mentya that can assist you in being reimbursed. See more about Mentaya here.
do you offer a discount or a sliding scale?
I want therapy to be available to everyone and so I do offer a few sliding scale spots based on need and finances. Schedule a consultation to see if you qualify or I have spots open.
DO you only work with women?
My work mostly centers around women, but I work with all genders and all people ages 15+
where are you located?
My office is with Tri-Lakes Collaborative Counseling in the heart of Old Monument. At 244 Washington Street, a yellow house with red trim that is cozy and charming.
Do you do telehealth?
Yes, I use a HIPAA-compliant system much like Zoom, called Doxy. As long as you are in a space with no distractions and you feel like you have adequate privacy to participate fully in therapy.
